That's a good point. 3600 offers better value.

I just picked the X model since it wasn't visible. Damn AU gets a hard time. I'd link to the ASUS Prime X570 PCM motherboard here.

Paying for X570 adds roughly 100 Aud for unused features. There exist B450 boards capable of driving a 3900X... like the B450 Tomahawk Max.

It's not very impressive. It barely handles a 3900X at 1.25V.

It's the most affordable board that still offers a solid tier and can handle a 3900X max.

Likely accurate, though it should work for the 3600. At the $600 AU cost level the person is certainly not choosing a 3900x.

4th generation Ryzen chips are expected to match the power consumption of their 3rd generation predecessors. Upgraded boards that support high-end processors usually command higher prices or offer better upgrade options if you decide to purchase a used chip later. My Z170M Plus is a poor-quality board, making it difficult to sell, whereas a better Z170A Prime model would have sold more easily.

He picked it to upgrade later, keeping in mind the arrival of the 4th generation Ryzen.

200fps is quite a challenge. 3600 offers decent performance in many games, though it falls short in others.
