RTX 2060 115W experiencing low frame rates in CS:GO
RTX 2060 115W experiencing low frame rates in CS:GO
I own a ROG Strix Scar 15 from 2020 with the following configuration:
240hz 3ms display
8 core i7-10875h processor
RTX 2060 graphics card (115W power consumption)
16GB RAM (single channel)
1TB SSD storage
My Windows configurations are already highly optimized. Game mode is activated.
All graphics drivers are up to date, and my power/battery settings are set for maximum performance.
Nvidia control panel is configured for high performance.
Nvidia low latency: Ultra
When I executed a CSGO benchmark using the Ulletical benchmark workshop map with all settings at maximum capacity, the results were:
Everything set to High/VeryHigh
Multicore rendering: enabled
FXAA: disabled
Uber shaders: enabled
Vsync, Motionblur, and similar features: disabled
MSAA: 8x
Anisotropic: 16x
Texture Streaming: activated
The benchmark achieved an average frame rate of 159...
In Deathmatch (Dust II) with identical settings, the average was between 120-150 FPS, sometimes higher in tunnels.
These outcomes are quite surprising.
I’m referring to YouTube videos showing laptops with the same RTX 2060 and slightly weaker CPU. Here are the links:
View: https://youtu.be/dhmst-Q0jOA
View: https://youtu.be/RC-vUh7vMOg
The first video features an i5 processor and 8GB RAM (likely dual channel), yet it shows massive differences.
The second video consistently hits around 230+ FPS in Deathmatch Dust II. WTFFFFFF.
What’s going on with my CSGO? Yes, I’m aware I have only a single channel and 16GB RAM, but this really seems to affect performance. I don’t think so...
Additionally, I’ve tested other games as well. Here are the average FPS under maximum settings:
Apex Legends: 100-120 FPS
COD Warzone: 80-100 FPS
PUBG: 90-120 FPS
These numbers appear normal for an RTX 2060 with 115W power consumption. Even some videos claim slightly higher averages, possibly due to dual channel usage.
So it seems my CSGO is the only one behaving this way. Can anyone clarify why this is happening?
Single channel ram will greatly affect gaming performance when the cpu is the bottleneck. I strongly dislike that they offer gaming laptops with single channel ram.
