RTV silicone applied to contacts following delamination
RTV silicone applied to contacts following delamination
Hi, I fixed and moved my i7 7700K with LM power supply. I sealed the IHS using black RTV silicone, but applied too much. Some of it is touching the exposed contacts. Is that okay? Could the contacts get damaged? Thanks.
Yes, you can attempt to remove the silicone once it has dried.
Let it stay as is. There’s nothing to harm and scraping could cause more trouble. Uncertain of the outcome, but better safe than sorry.
It isn't naturally conductive, but according to what was mentioned, taking it out might risk harming the connection.
