Based on that reasoning, each game becomes a form of role-playing. While I’m in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit I embody a criminal street racer; in Left 4 Dead I’m a survivor fighting an undead apocalypse; and in Roller Coaster Tycoon I act as a theme-park entrepreneur.

You didn't hear the Wikipedia piece, and there are even RPG cardboard games out there. An RPG isn't just a video game with abilities and stages.

They haven't been played yet, though the Witcher titles are expected to be strong. Additionally, Witcher 3 is scheduled to release soon.

The Witcher and Divinity: Original Sin are great choices. For a more classic vibe, try Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.

The idea doesn't hold up. Treating every game as an RPG makes the classification meaningless. There should be clear distinctions, or it just adds unnecessary confusion.

It’s comparing calling a bus a bus to dismissing its usefulness, pointing out it has wheels and an engine, yet still questioning if it should be called a car. The point is made by referencing the article.

You're referring to a common misunderstanding about terminology. I used the word "bus" in a way that might have confused it with a "car." Your point about oversimplifying RPGs is valid—let me know if you'd like a clearer explanation.

I mentioned that labeling every game as an RPG would render the classification useless. But that’s not accurate. I didn’t say all games should be RPGs. That’s why I referenced the Wikipedia page. RPGs were around before computers existed. A stage play is just an RPG. Doing explicit content and pretending to be a "sexy ups man" counts too. It has nothing to do with technology. Leveling, grinding, dungeons—none of it matters here. It’s a straightforward game where you take on a specific character.
