I enjoy RPG titles where you can lose yourself in hours of gameplay or storytelling. On the flip side, I’m drawn to city-building games like Towns, Banished, and Gnomoria, but finding a match for those is tough. I’d stick with Towns if it hadn’t stopped, and I’d still love Banished and Gnomoria. (What makes them drop after that point?) Here are some suggestions—plenty of options!

Sure, those options sound appealing.

Skylines stands out as an impressive city-building experience, likely the top choice after SimCity 4. For a deep RPG, Pillars of Eternity is a solid option—similar in spirit to Baldur's Gate III, though without the D&D mechanics. The narrative so far is engaging and avoids the typical "good vs evil" dilemmas, making it more nuanced. Just begin with Easy settings; even Normal will be challenging, requiring several restart attempts before you grasp the game's core concepts.

I saw a harsh critique about it and thought it would be too much to tackle. The only games I’ve really explored were Skyrim, Morrowind, and Oblivion.

For those who enjoy rough play, give The Guild 2 a shot.

They halted production, though a few titles performed well. Tropico and Cities: Skylines seem to be the ones in question.

He mentioned the project went to another developer, but there hasn't been any progress since then—probably around January 2014. Gnomoria, only two bug fixes have been made so far.

I enjoyed playing the Caesar games, which offered a creative city-building experience. I appreciated how you needed to continuously update and enhance your city to incorporate new features as it advanced.

I’d prefer a game focused solely on survival. Towns was enjoyable since it let you obtain a tavern where adventurers would show up. You could dispatch heroes to your dungeons to collect supplies like food, weapons, and materials. It was quite engaging.
