WiFi settings that let the access point choose the channel automatically help it pick the best available slot. This feature works well on some devices and less so on others. The goal is to minimize clashes with nearby networks and reduce interference. In areas with many signals, auto-select tries to find a channel with the weakest signal from neighbors—even if that means some overlap. This usually results in fewer disruptions. The 2.4GHz band is known for heavy overlap because only three non-overlapping channels fit within the 20MHz range; using a wider 40MHz band can cut this down to about two channels, which should help avoid issues. On the 5GHz band, more channels and larger bandwidths lower the chance of conflict, though overlap isn’t completely eliminated—still check the spectrum carefully.

I understand this makes sense. I plan to test, check, and analyze it over the coming week or so to gain a clearer picture. I’ve chosen the product from the link you shared: https://www.amazon.co.uk/AUSUS-Zenwifi-A...rs&sr=1-23. I believe the three options would work well with spacing, and placing one in the side extension could also benefit the upstairs area. Thanks to everyone for your assistance—I really appreciate it.

I appreciate the assistance from both of you (@Falcon1986 and @GhostRoadieBL). I installed the ASUS ZenWiFi yesterday and didn’t receive any complaints from my sis or mum today. Everything is running smoothly now. I’m enjoying a stable connection of 70mbps in my room, which is a big improvement and eliminates hotspot issues. I’ll experiment with moving the node to find the best performance, but overall I’m satisfied.
