Yes, it is possible to have multiple routers in the same house, including a gaming router and a different router from a provider like Sky.

But it might not add much value. What do you aim to achieve? If you want a gaming experience with the rest of your network isolated, set the 2.4GHz channel as 'Home Main' or something similar, and use the 5GHz band for gaming.

Gaming routers often promise more than they deliver. They mainly rely on QoS to boost performance for gaming devices such as consoles. In reality, any router equipped with QoS can achieve similar results. You might still discover a superior option outside your ISP’s setup, but avoid spending on overpriced gaming models. Opt for a reliable Wi-Fi 6 router instead.

Sure, I can suggest a few WiFi 6 gaming routers. Look for models like the ASUS RT-AX86U, Netgear Nighthawk R7000, or TP-Link AR9000. They offer fast speeds and strong performance for gaming.

Connecting two routers may cause Double NAT problems. Gaming routers usually focus on gaming traffic, but since the Sky router is directly linked to the internet, its capabilities won’t be very useful. Check if the Sky router can switch to bridge or pass-through mode. If it works, proceed; otherwise, don’t spend the money.
