In short, your ISP provided a new router with Wi-Fi 6 and gigabit ports. I set it up and everything functions correctly. I have a 1Gbps fiber connection. On port 1 of the router, I receive full gigabit speed, but on other ports I only get about 100Mbps. All LAN ports are supposed to be gigabit, as stated on the box and manufacturer site. My router is a TP Link AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 model, with two connected devices—one on LAN 1 (gigabit) and another on LAN 2 (not gigabit). I’m wondering if there’s an issue and whether it could be related to the cable or configuration.

No, not all cables are CAT 6 or 7. Some may be higher standards like CAT 6A or even 10G.

Open Settings (Windows Settings, Win + I) → Network and Internet → Ethernet. In the Properties area, check the link speed shown. For Gigabit connectivity, it needs to be at least 1000/1000Mbps. Edited July 26, 2021 by RockSolid1106 Added the picture.

It seems you're asking about network standards. AFAIK, CAT5E can indeed support Gigabit speeds.

It seems like you're suggesting that Cat5E also works.

On my primary computer, the speed reads 1000/1000Mbps. On the second one it shows 100/100Mbps. I've tested other ports on the main machine, all are gigabit. It seems the issue might be with the second PC or the cable. I don't know the exact cable type yet.

The label on the cable indicates CAT5E, but the connectors were installed incorrectly by someone else. It’s possible they didn’t match the specifications.

Basic check, change the cables to verify, ensure everything supports gigabit speeds and configurations are right, but if performance doesn’t match, the connection is probably faulty—possibly misconnected or damaged wire.

All four connections are needed for gigabit performance. Any loose or miswired wires reduce speed to 100Mb.

Additionally, gigabit connectivity requires both ends to be compatible, along with the cable. (Cat5E and higher)
