Hi everyone! I'm looking to purchase a ROG STRIX Z270F board at a reasonable price. I currently have an i3 9100F, but I'm unsure if that will fit or work properly. The Asus site mentions compatibility only with 6th and 7th generation chips, though some sources suggest it's possible with a BIOS update. Since I don't have a 6th or 7th generation CPU, I'm wondering if I can still use the 9100F in it. Can I upgrade it to work with the Z270F? Thanks for any advice!

I question their backing for the chip. The last bios microcode revision was April 2018, and your 9100f came out in 2019.
