It would have been an ideal budget Z690 DDR4 board from MSI—it really is, though missing a POST code which is disappointing. Likely I’ll end up choosing the Z690 Edge from MSI instead. Of course, it lacks that two-digit POST code (a nice feature), but it still offers Q-Led for the CPU, VGA, RAM, and storage, which remains useful if those components fail or need BIOS updates to function properly.
18 power phases at 75A versus 19 phases at 90A, with a total of 13 USB ports but no fan header for an exhaust fan to clear heat from the case (specifically for the Z690 Aorus PRO DDR4). The Edge model includes one, while the Aorus PRO has more.
I wish there were more Z690 options with DDR4 and many solid premium features that justify the price.
