Rog Strix B460-i has some GPU problems during gaming.
I sent back the motherboard and was hoping for a replacement from the maker. I won it in a contest, so the shop doesn’t have any assurance about this one. It seems I probably invested around 20 hours or more trying various solutions for any issue—even minor ones—without any luck.
Suggests a warm/cold boot problem. The terms refer to temperature, not actual heat. The machine boots differently during startup versus a restart, even though both are sometimes called 'start.' The main concern is whether you're performing complete reboots or just quick resets, and when this happens.
It worked well under both hot and cold conditions. Powered it down and changed components during testing, but if it had started before, it wouldn’t boot after the swap. If it didn’t boot initially, it would start correctly once the next part was installed. I’m looking for a thorough report to understand why the problem occurred without replacing the motherboard or CPU.
It began immediately, updating the firmware because it had resolved similar problems before. When that failed, I switched to other GPUs and memory from my own machine, which always worked perfectly. The pattern remained consistent—same behavior every time, whether booting cold or warm. Upon returning the device to the store, a quick test was conducted, but I couldn’t access any additional 1200-socket motherboards or CPUs for evaluation. They assured me they’d follow up today, though I haven’t heard back yet. I’ll keep an eye on this and update here once I receive a detailed explanation of the problem.
It might relate to a ROM instead of an EPROM since software issues usually require replacing the chip, and there could be various strange problems with the power supply.
I'm used to assembling computers, but I'm not very familiar with how all the parts actually work. Usually I can identify the problem component or find others facing the same issue online via Google, but this time I haven't had much success. I'm hoping they can provide a thorough error report, though I'm not giving up. Unless the seller manages to pinpoint it, the manufacturer probably won't bother. But if I do get any detailed info or anything at all, I'll share it here.
