I have a custom desktop built around a Ryzen 5 3600X and an Asus ROG B450F Gaming. It also includes two M.2 NVMe drives—a Kingston A2000 and a Corsair Force MP510—with the latter running Linux and another Unix OS that caused trouble on the Ubuntu forums. Right now, my RX 5700XT is only at x8 and seems to be hitting the motherboard limits. I’m curious if adjusting it to x16 would resolve some GPU application issues, even though I’m not sure why they’re happening. Could you help me figure this out? Thanks!

It offers a solid GPU setup with 24 lanes, including 4 dedicated to the chipset, 16 for the GPU, and 4 for an M.2 slot (the first being DMI-CONTROL). This configuration appears sufficient in theory.

The motherboard specifications indicate it's not possible unless you modify the MOSO.

Limited only by past poor choices, which still need improvement, honestly. After you mentioned that, everything makes sense. The setup is 16 GPUs, 4 per m2, so with 2 m2s you have 8 dedicated to the m2s, leaving just 8 for the GPU. I was wondering where you got this detail—looking for a clever solution to bypass it, but it seems like a hardware rule. And your question about x16_2: if it’s in slot x16_1, what’s the chance it isn’t affected by this restriction?
