Rockstar Games has some fiery opinions to share!
I recently came across an article discussing Rockstar Games' policy of banning singleplayer mods. What a surprise! Many people purchase PC GTA V mainly because of the mods available. Is it really their intention to take every penny from us? It seems pointless when Rockstar is a thriving company. They reportedly earned more than the production costs of GTA 5 just through pre-orders during its initial console launch in 2013. This really frustrates me, especially when wealthy corporations attempt to squeeze extra money from players, degrading the gaming experience. A similar situation exists with Clash of Clans on iOS and Android, where they push for purchases by making town upgrades feel costly. Rockstar has reached this point, hasn’t it? It’s disappointing to recall the days when singleplayer mods were welcomed, and developers cared less. You’re probably joking, right? I bought GTA V specifically because of the singleplayer mods. By the way, please refrain from responding—this is just my perspective.
Starting with free-to-play games relies on some form of income to stay active. Many believe people deserve access to free content. I don’t fully understand that perspective. If you’re not paying, how can you expect others to support it? GTA 5 makes sense to me. Don’t share posts on public forms unless you’re comfortable with the response.
1: theres NOTHING that stops companies from disallowing mods in their game. 2: if you dont want people to reply, i'd suggest posting it somewhere different than a forum. 3: HAVE YOU SEEN the graphics difference between the console version and PC version even on low?
Beyond the clear expectations, how can you blame a company for seeking profit? No one is entitled to entertainment; Rockstar stands out as a top choice for crafting exceptional games. Their creations are their intellectual property, and they have the freedom to use it as they see fit. Just because you purchased a product doesn’t alter that reality.
Another that rarely receives much attention but becomes clear upon reflection is the delicate balance the GTA series maintains regarding societal acceptance. To stay within that range Rockstar must carefully manage the game. You understand there will always be modifications altering character appearances and other elements. It's a straightforward risk to lose everything and face potential bans. This isn't driven by financial concerns at all.
You're concerned because restrictions in multiplayer could affect your experience even though you focus on solo play.
This idea seems unclear. Clash of Clans appears to be more than just a game designed to encourage spending with little enjoyment. GTA 5, on the other hand, is a solid title. Your frustration might stem from feeling frustrated when mods aren't allowed without anger, which I understand, but the reasoning isn’t quite clear. Singleplayer mods often transfer to multiplayer since the files are similar; creating a backup is possible, though time-consuming due to the game's size. Switching to vanilla for online play shouldn’t be an issue. Also, if you accidentally connect online with mods, as long as it doesn’t involve cheating, it should be acceptable. Edit: If you prefer silence, avoid making public statements online.
