I recently purchased Rocket League and encountered a problem when trying to launch it. The game either displays a white screen with the cursor in the loading animation or a black screen with the game bar appearing but then closing quickly after about five seconds. Has anyone experienced this issue before? How would you resolve it?

I did some quick searching and found someone with a similar issue. Please help! White screen on launch -> PC. The solution for that person was to access the game's install folder, navigate to binaries -> win32, and delete the d3d9.dll file. I suggest copying it to your desktop before deletion so you can restore it if needed. Alternatively, rename it to d3d9.dll.old. Another fix involved going into the Steam Library, Properties, General, and setting Launch Options to "-nomovie". It appears the problem relates to the intro movie and a Direct3D library issue.

The installation directory relies on the source location of the game. Was the game downloaded from Steam or the Epic Games launcher?

It seems the file should be placed in the specified directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rocketleague\Binaries\Win32.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to assist you. There are some crash reports available that the Rocket League support team may require if you need their help.

I could possibly attempt a reinstall, but thank you for your help.
Edit: I'm trying to open it prior to deletion and it seems to be updating, so maybe it will work.
