It functions as a compatibility layer enabling older Windows NT-based applications—such as native Windows XP programs or Fallout 3 Windows Live GOTY Edition—to operate on contemporary hardware. I’ve personally tested it on my ASUS X415JA-EB110T to make Fallout 3 function.

I understand what you're referring to. You mentioned Windows 8 and explained that you turned off CBM according to a Reddit guide, indicating the problem existed prior to disabling it. I attempted again but didn't succeed.
