rmation for Chrome users
Bad Chrome stop it, bad. Sorry, Chrome just messed up my task bar next to my clock. It seems to have been happening for a while now. To fix it, type "chrome://flags" into your address bar, look for "Enable Rich Notifications" and turn it off. Yay, no more unwanted features! There are many other options in the flags section. What similar tricks have you tried with Chrome?
Essentially the same thing. Feel free to turn off certain alerts if you wish.
It turns out this feature also affects other functions. I think I'll have to accept Chrome taking over the task bar.
Rich alerts are quite helpful, particularly for extensions (and eventually I plan to include somewhat related capabilities in Firefox). I’m not sure why you were seeing a generic placeholder or non-production message. If you’re not comfortable with Google’s approach, consider clicking the link provided (download Firefox).
Use Windows API for toast alerts on Windows 8 and a balloon notification for older versions. This keeps things simple and consistent for users.
