You can open cmd as an administrator, run wmic, then enter the memorychip details and scroll to the right to find the part number, or simply share the screenshot.

Oh, based on what i read in the page, it's max capacity is 48, so i assume you only have 1 ram slot for upgrade.

What quantity gets soldered onto? And does dual-channel loss actually pose such a significant issue even with a large RAM module placed in one lane?

Wait for confirmation before checking, then examine and evaluate.
Increasing RAM only leads to wasted funds if your system stays under 16GB.

16GB at 3200mhz. If you require more memory, no. For maximum bandwidth it's decent but not outstanding. Dual Channel 32GBs at 3200mhz CL22 (possibly 1Rx16—check the soldered RAM part number)—already provides ample capacity, so 48GB is only necessary if you specifically need that amount.

It's a loss of money if you don't aim for under 8gb either. I'm planning ahead so I understand the risks and pick a reliable future laptop.

Future-proof does not really exist, especially with a laptop where you can't replace the CPU or the video card. There is an even chance the laptop will die before it gets too slow to run what you want (higher end gaming laptops are not the most reliable things). Have you checked with Asus support about the RAM configuration in that system?
