Hi, for your birthday you got a 32GB RAM package with two 16GB modules. The speed is set to 3600Mhz and timing is CL16. Your CPU is an 11th gen Intel i7-11700K, which supports up to 3200Mhz. Since the RAM can only go up to 3600Mhz, lowering it to 3200Mhz won’t cause an issue—it will still work fine. You can keep it at 3600Mhz if you prefer, but reducing to 3200Mhz won’t hurt performance. Just make sure the RAM is compatible with your system. Thanks!

Consider testing them at the speeds they claim to offer first.

You're highly likely to get smooth performance at 3600MHz with your i7 using XMP settings.

On the Trident Z Ram box, they claim a frequency of 3600Mhz, but the motherboard manual states 3200Mhz.

If your motherboard doesn't accept 3600MHz RAM, I'm not confident it will function. However, your i7 processor should be capable of handling that speed.

Begin with XMP. It usually succeeds in 99% of situations. If it fails, you can adjust it to 3200MHz.

No current Intel or AMD CPU officially backs speeds beyond 3200. However, RAM may still function at 3600 since users have been testing above supported limits for a while. Try enabling XMP settings first; it might work in most situations, even if not guaranteed.

Intel now supports memory OC for non-Z chipsets. I previously used 4000 on a B560 board.
