RK 100 Royal Kludge Software/Drivers for Linux compatibility?
RK 100 Royal Kludge Software/Drivers for Linux compatibility?
Hey everyone. I bought this affordable RK 100 Royal Kludge RGB white keyboard and found it looks great. However, it seems you need to download and install software to use it fully. Without the software, it only shows about 7-10 colors in static mode. Installing the right program unlocks a wide range of colors and modes. But all the information I've seen online is for Windows-only solutions—no mention of Linux compatibility.
Do you know how to make the Windows version work on your Linux system? Or is it really not possible? Also, would posting this in a Linux forum help get more answers? I’d want to find the best Linux communities first, but I think it might be easier if it’s discussed there since it’s related to Linux.
It seems you're having trouble locating an RK100 on their support page. Double-check that you have the correct model for your keyboard. You might consider taking legal action if necessary. WineHQ offers a solution to run Windows apps on Linux, BSD, Solaris, and macOS. Visit their site at www.winehq.org to access your app or use the keyboard in Linux.
I'm going to return this thing. I followed along two different youtube videos, and neither is working. And it's not because of the video. It's this keyboard and it's horrible software. The RK 100 is on the site, but the software is not working. And the guy that makes the youtube page that shows you how to get he software and find out which PID your keyboard is says: RK Kludge Keyboards are FANTASTIC. Great value. But HORRIFIC software. So I'm out. I found this other keyboard that looks as good or better with software that works. So I'm gonna try that one instead
Um, for now, no. I understand some of those more expensive/better brands will have software that works and be a better product overall. But they just cost too much money in my opinion. But we'll see. I only really want to spend around $50-75 max on a keyboard. And if this Womier K87 doesn't work out, then maybe I'll have to look at these more expensive keyboards. But for now, I don't want to spend $150 for a keyboard.
It's nice to see you found this discussion. Almost purchased a Royal Kludge RK96. Please let me know if the Womier K87 performs well. Also, what distribution are you running?
The Womier K87 is amazing! I received the yellow switches and really like them. They provide a much better feel than the usual red ones. The tiny boost in pressure when pressing the keys gives it a more solid sensation, while still being very responsive.
It has a striking appearance thanks to the frosted semi clear acrylic and rainbow RGB lighting. I didn’t use the colors personally; I just wanted bright white, so I set it that way. However, if you enjoy colors and dynamic pulsing effects, you’ll love this product. It looks sturdy and well-crafted as well. Now that I’m satisfied and planning to keep it, I’ll purchase those Hyper X pudding key caps to let more light through.
I only used it for five days but already love it. Strongly recommend it.
And I’ll be running Pop once my PC is built.
