Hey there! To simplify, I needed a new graphics card—my old one kept freezing after just five seconds. I tried an 8700K with a solid setup, but it didn’t handle the XMP settings well, causing crashes in games. Now I’m stuck at around 4.5Ghz with normal RAM speed. My power supply is decent, but I’m not sure what to fix next. Any suggestions?

2133Mhz 1.2v, the XMP lifts them to 3000 at 1.36-1.39

Check if they operate at 2666 MHz. I don’t know the voltage.

You can't simply pick a clock based on voltage alone. The timing matters a lot. Once the 3070 was installed, it kept restarting, which I resolved by resetting the CMOS.

Update your CPU microcode. You're experiencing similar problems as before because your motherboard includes outdated (pre-Spectre/Meltdown) microcode in the BIOS. You can either replace the entire BIOS or use the UEFI BIOS Updater (UBU) to install a newer BIOS image and incorporate the latest MCU. If you have the time and interest, I suggest using UBU—it allows you to update both microcode and other BIOS features to a more recent version than what the manufacturer offers. Now my entire system is running much more stably, and I've even managed to overclock my RAM to 3466 (the maximum for my board) beyond XMP.
