Would using RGB fans work on older motherboards? You mentioned a Z170 board that likely doesn’t support RGB, yet you’re considering case fans for front cooling. The RGB control signal probably wouldn’t reach the fan controller, so it wouldn’t function properly. Even if the board technically supports power, the lack of proper signaling means the fans won’t activate. It’s safer to stick with non-RGB options unless you’re certain about compatibility.

It works smoothly as long as the connectors aren’t exclusive and it uses a standard PWM+RGB header. You might also find affordable 140mm non-RGB, non-Corsair fans available at low prices.

None of the nearby PC component vendors carry non-RGB Corsair fans. I’ll continue searching for stock, regardless of the situation. Sounds promising overall. I’m really focused on maintaining a consistent build, which makes sense. It’s mostly MSI and Corsair components, and it looks great that way. MSI Z170, 1060 6GB, 650W PSU; Corsair case, RAM, fans, etc… the only standout part is the be quiet! cooler.

When regional stock is limited, they offer direct ordering through Corsair.
