Reviving the G700s
Reviving the G700s
This mouse has always held a special position for me. I haven’t found anything even close when it comes to comfort and ergonomics. The old Mx1000 was decent too, but the G700s covers most aspects except reliability. The ergonomic design works wonderfully for medium-sized hands. A free-spinning mouse wheel is essential in certain games. The placement of the forward/back buttons directly above the thumb is something only a tiny fraction of engineers get right.
If there are any users with G700s who have had success, I’m sure I don’t need to go into detail about the technical problems. I’m just hoping to get advice from more technically knowledgeable people on whether there’s any chance to fix or improve the right-click issue.
I’m currently using a wired mouse and not affiliated with any software, as it seems the software was partly responsible for the issues. The mouse functions well overall, but the right-click feels delayed and doesn’t respond well to click-dragging.
The laser performance is actually quite good by today’s standards. It tracks smoothly on fast rough surfaces, unlike many other mice.
I’d like to know if anyone has managed to replace the click switches and which ones they recommend.
Omron switches come in various styles. Ixify lists the following options:
