Hey there! I'm trying to figure out my PC upgrade path. I've been looking at CPU, motherboard, and RAM options, and noticed ASUS and Intel both have promotions. I decided to buy a bundle from PCPartPicker but now feel unsure about whether to stick with what I got or return it for the cashback. The bundles I saw were priced around 550 euros, but with the rebate I should get back 90 euros, bringing the cost down to about 460 euros. On the other hand, another bundle from AMD and Intel both cost roughly the same amount, though the AMD one seems more upgrade-friendly for the future. I'm stuck deciding between the two and wondering if Intel or AMD is better value right now.

I can already picture the comments section. Honestly, it all hinges on what the computer is meant for. For gaming, Intel is the way to go; for photo editing or video rendering, AMD shines. If you need it quickly, Intel is the best choice. If you’re okay with a wait, opting for a more affordable model makes sense. Ultimately, it comes down to your requirements and preferences. I really wanted a high-end Intel processor with the 1151 socket and ended up getting an i9 because I thought it would make the experience more enjoyable, even though it cost a bit more than a 3700x chip. The same applies to RAM—I went for 32GB instead of the standard 16GB and added RGB lighting.

I've been a long-time Intel enthusiast. Just ignore anything without hyperthreading and skip any with fewer than eight cores. You should be okay with six and SMT, though many people grumble about having too much CPU but complain more when it's lacking. Not pushing you to buy something like the 3900X, but 8 or 16 is the norm.

I would choose the Ryzen configuration. If 90 Euro feels high, opt for the Intel setup instead. You'll still enjoy a solid performance. The claim that "Intel is for gaming" no longer applies to budget options; it mainly makes sense at the top end. The Ryzen processor will deliver better results.

Thanks for the feedback! Right now the Intel bundle offers a better deal, giving me 90 euros back. Since I'm on a tighter budget, the cheaper choice feels more attractive. In short: Intel bundle = 460e versus AMD bundle = 550e — Intel comes out ahead. Now, regarding RAM, Kingston HyperX vs. Corsair Vengeance — which one suits you better?

Choose the 3200 model you like the most for its appearance. It doesn’t really matter too much overall. I favor Corsair LXP because it has a lower profile.

No one knows yet if new CPUs will arrive next year. It's unclear whether they'll share the same socket as Intel LGA1151 and AMD AM4. For future upgrades, it's hard to say which configuration is better, but we can look into any announcements from Intel or AMD.

The creator didn't mention the specific GPU being used. It seems pairing it with a 2060 Super or a 9600K would work better, while a 1080Ti would match the 9600K nicely. A mixed setup with two Titan GPUs might be possible, but a RX 570/1050 would likely have less impact. For games that prioritize hyperthreading, the AMD could benefit more. He might also use the extra 90E to upgrade the cooler and get good temperatures on the 9600K.

I’ve set a timeline: I’ll wait until next Friday, during Black Friday, to review the offers on both configurations. Then I’ll decide based on getting the best value.

If you're on a budget and prefer the AMD system, switching to a B450 board could save around $70 compared to an X570. That would only add $20 more without any cashback. I don’t see a strong reason to choose the X570 for this setup.
