I need to improve my current motherboard because the VRM can't support a 9950. I chose the GIGABYTE B850M Gaming X WIFI6E since HWUB confirmed no power restrictions and the VRM temperatures were excellent. It isn’t an ARSEROCK or ASUS model. The price is reasonable locally. I’d love a white board, but the only cheaper option is the M Eagle Ice, which has power limits, and others are much pricier. I’m fairly certain I have it within budget and availability, but it’s always good to verify once more.

When funds are limited, sticking to it works well. Make sure it includes all necessary ports and expansion options—USB, M.2 slots, and so on—so the VRM support is sufficient.

Other choices exist. The IO shield has limitations on USB connections—only four high-speed ports and a few USB 2.0 ports that might be via a hub. The M.2 port sits near the video slot, which could cause overheating, and the PCIe bays are close together, potentially restricting airflow or blocking cables. The audio is outdated, using an ALC897 chip and a basic VRM setup with 55A power stages. While there are boards offering improved VRMs and better built-in audio, options vary by region. If you're in Brazil, you might find models like the Gigabyte B850M Aorus Elite Wifi6e or B560M Aorus Elite Wifi7. These come with ALC1220 audio and 6 phases doubled (12 power stages) at 55A, plus more USB ports on the IO shield. The ATX version B850 Aorus Elite Wifi7 includes 2x7 phases (14 power stages) but is pricier. Compared to the Gaming X, the Aorus Elite offers more USB options, though it lacks extra video connectors and a PS/2 port. The Gaming X provides a larger heatsink for its M.2 slot—still below the video card but noticeably bigger—and includes a wireless-capable M.2 slot if you need one. If available in Brazil, the MSI B850M Mortar (with or without Wi-Fi) is worth considering; it has a 2x6 60A VRM, ALC4080 audio, and Wi-Fi 7 support. It also includes a compact M.2 port for wireless use.

You might check amazon.br for guidance. Aiming for 1500 is perfect, but I’m open to going up to 1700 for a solid foundation. Alternatively, you could target a b650 board, though switching between them due to VRM differences feels a bit unappealing.
