Hi, I’m looking to purchase a new RAM. I received an offer from a local dealer for a 3200-SAMSUNG 16GB laptop RAM at $2000 including shipping, about $25 each. I’m considering a brand-new Samsung with a 3-year warranty and believe the price might be a bit high. I’m unsure if there are reliable tools to test the RAM and don’t have any experience with Corsair or Crucial yet. Could you recommend some options? Also, are Samsung or Micron RAM better for me?
Samsung and Micron are trusted companies. You can view the RAM speed and timing in the BIOS or Task Manager (just the speeds) or hardware details. To ensure reliability, I recommend running memtest.
Most RAM is produced by Samsung, Micron, or SK Hynix. Firms such as Corsair and G.Skill purchase it in large quantities for tasks like binning. The actual chips are manufactured by the same companies. A key sub-brand from Micron also plays a role.
