I'm not making any complaints, I'm pointing out a real problem that affects all distributions. Even after Navi was released, I still had to build the kernel and Mesa from source on Arch. Most people won't understand or handle that. It's either functional or it isn't. This relates to what I mentioned earlier—you're overlooking the core issue.

I've changed the numbers from 5700XT to 6800XT, then to 7900XTX, and they consistently launched successfully with Arch. If you need Debian, remember it's not ideal for new projects—it's better suited for servers. For desktops, consider Fedora, OpenSUSE, or Arch.

That's a great tip. Just running `yay -S mesa-git` at that moment works well instead of searching for the article. I might have already had it installed, but I didn't realize it. Thanks!

If I shared what I knew 15 years back, it would seem unbelievable. I can play every title I own on Fedora. A few classic games required some adjustments, but once they're running it works fine. On Steam I rarely check protonDB before installing anything. Plus, this week steamVR finally worked with my quests. It needed some serious tweaks since ALVR is still in beta, but now it runs smoothly—way better than the Oculus app. Improved wireless performance and less clutter. You can always grumble about what doesn't work, but for me it feels like the glass is half full. The excitement of getting a game up and running is what matters most. I used to need special configurations like a different config.sys and autoexec.bat on boot floppies for many games to free up memory.
