Hey everyone, this might seem odd but I have a 13600k in an MSI Pro-A Wi-Fi Z790 that seems to be functioning well with a light overclock (5.4P + 4.4E @ 1.2v). Since I haven’t updated my BIOS yet after getting the PC, I’m curious if updating it could cause any problems or slow things down, especially with all the chatter around Intel right now. My chip appears to be running smoothly without crashes or overheating, so I’m okay with just sticking with what works. In normal situations, I’d probably update the BIOS as soon as a new version comes out. Cheers, C

1.2V is very low so you'll probably be fine. It's the stock settings pushing 1.4-1.5V that cause problems, not sure if the 13600K pushes it as far as the i7s and i9s though. If it's running fine don't touch it. BIOS update could make things worse if anything, i've had bios updates mess up my overclocks before. If you're affected by the oxidation though then you can't do much about that. I don't think there is any way to tell if your chip has the issue though.

Thanks for sharing the details. It sounds like you're open to adjusting things if needed. I understand the concern about BIOS updates affecting your setup, but don't worry—you can tweak it back if required.

Updating bios is acceptable. Don't get too caught up. They offer many improvements.
