Hello everyone, my issue is... I started in safe mode using msconfig to reinstall an AMD driver. I realized I can't recall my original password. I attempted to use my Microsoft account, but when I tried network boot with shift+restart, there was no connection. I'm connected via Ethernet. I used the command prompt, but it kept asking for a password. I have a bootable USB drive, which allowed me to run the command prompt, but it didn't work. X:\Sources>bcdedit -> The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found. C:\>bcdedit -> The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found. C:\>bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot -> The specified entry identifier is not valid. The parameter is incorrect. C:\>bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot -> The specified entry identifier is not valid. The parameter is incorrect. C:\>bcdedit /deletevalue safeboot -> The boot configuration data store could not be opened. Tried to reinstall Windows with the upgrade option so I don't lose my files and programs, but it said I have to start Windows normally first. I spent a lot of time trying this. Need help.

What are you referring to with OP? It's hard to understand what you're trying to do. Are you attempting to reinstall GPU drivers? Just use DDU. I don’t even know how you’re using msconfig or anything else.

I tried to run ddu in safe mode as intended. I used msconfig to access it, but I forgot my initial password during setup, which locked me out. That forced me into safe mode, which was the issue. Others had found a workaround online—using Macrium Reflect’s Rescue media and booting from it. Follow the restore options and let the PC reinstall Windows. FU Windows!
