Hi everyone, I just switched my GPU from a GTX 1060 with 3GB to a GTX 1080 with 8GB. My setup includes an i5 9400f, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and the GTX 1080. I suspect the CPU is limiting performance, so upgrading to an i7 9700K might help. This is my benchmark in Assassin's Creed Origins. If you notice frame drops where the screen freezes briefly before recovering, that’s likely the issue. It didn’t happen with my GTX 1060. Just a heads-up—it only affects Ubisoft titles. On a GTX 1080 the performance isn’t a major issue, but AC games put a strain on both parts, and this card isn’t very efficient for them. It’s usually wiser to wait a bit and tweak your settings instead of upgrading right now.
I don't agree with that view. A 3600 might be quicker, but it doesn't seem like a substantial enough boost to justify the investment, especially since new technology is emerging soon. With a 9400 and a GTX 1080 still capable of solid gaming performance—even with minor compromises—and considering budget matters because you already have a 9400—it makes more sense to wait for something truly better instead of settling for a half-measure like the 3600.
