Hello! Your setup shows consistent high temperatures on all four cores, especially under light workloads. With the Core X, you should monitor closely but aim to keep temps below 90°C. If you want a safe upper limit, consider setting it around 85-88°C for comfort and longevity. Regular checks with HWMonitor will help you stay informed. Cheers!

It could also be important to mention I rely on a desktop cooling pad while sitting at my desk—the large, bulky units with multiple fans that keep my laptop running smoothly. However, when I’m on the couch and resting on my lap, it tends to get warm.

You can configure a maximum power setting for the CPU through its power options, adjusting it to around 50-80%, then observe the performance impact.

Power settings > adjust plan configurations > modify advanced power controls > CPU energy management > highest power mode?

It really does lower temperatures, contrary to expectations. You might assume the CPU needs to run at full capacity to notice a change, but it actually reduces even when idle.

You can also experiment with Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) to slightly lower the CPU voltage. This reduces power usage and may allow additional restrictions. A tutorial is available at https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Extr...120.0.html

Necro, appreciate the suggestion. After years in computer tech, I usually focus on extra cooling, but this quick fix really helped. I was considering more advanced options like Intel XTU or ThrottleStop, but I didn’t want to commit that effort right now. Your method reminded me of the importance of the basics. It lowered my temps from 100°C to under 75°C with just a few changes in Windows settings—what a relief! Thanks again!
