Restoring memory context and shutting down powers off my GPU, which halts its signal output.
As the title implies, when I turn on memory context restore in the BIOS on my new build I encounter BSODs. To avoid this, I also need to enable power-down mode, which leads to unusual behavior from my GPU and prevents the display from showing properly. I'm using AMD Expo RAM at 6000MT/s. I'm unsure if that's related. My main concerns are boot times—without MCS they're slow, about a minute—and when I activate MCS and power-down mode I can see through the iGPU, but my RTX 4070 doesn't respond well. PC specs include a MOBO, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 2x16GB Kingston Fury 6000MHz GPU, ASUS Dual RTX 4070, 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD, and PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage.
Your problem could be related to the same issues I experienced with my Asus system... During stress testing, I got 100% stable performance until a cold boot using Expo, pre-set Asus RAM, and manual overclocks. The B650e-f latest BIOS, 7800x3d, and g skill flare cl32 were involved. It seems enabling "memory context restore" and "memory power down" in AI tweaker and advanced settings caused instability. Setting them both enabled resolved the issue, allowing the system to boot in seconds with full stability. I also used UCLK DIV1 MODE with MEMCLK set in both AI tweaker and advanced, thinking the latter should take precedence.
On my setup, MCR demands Power Down Mode be activated. It seems it might automatically turn it on when you turn on MCR.
There seems to be an issue where MCR leads to crashes because of unstable memory. You need to turn on power-down mode. However, another problem is making the GPU stop functioning unexpectedly. It's unclear why this happens.
