Recuva does the trick indeed. Let it do a deep scan (takes a while but you get much more results). And for the love of whatever God you worship, recover the data to another hard disk . If you recover to the one the data is/was on, chances are that the freshly recovered data will overwrite stuff that still needs to be recovered, making that unrecoverable.
