Restarts my whole system again.
Hello! Recently I started playing the new MW2, and everything worked well for a while. But after roughly two hours, without paying attention, my PC rebooted completely. Since it's a new game, I had an OSD active and temperatures were normal. So overheating didn't seem likely... yet I'm puzzled about what might have triggered it.
System specs: 13700k Corsair Vengeance, DDR5 5600MHz, RTX 3090 Ti, Founders MSI MAG z690, Tomahawk DDR5, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Arctic Freezer II 280 AIO, Corsair RM1000x.
Details: All components run at their base clock except RAM, which uses XMP. This is the only game that caused this issue so far. I haven't tested many other titles—just played Project Zomboid, RDR2, COD Black Ops 3, Left 4 Dead 2, TABS, and 7 Days To Die. None of them caused a restart. Interestingly, RDR2, another fairly demanding game, was only played for about half an hour just to check my rig.
I'm getting a different monitor (port problems with the current) before diving into the story I want to experience. I'm leaning toward a software problem, but I'm prepared to assume the worst and suspect one of my parts is faulty. If it's the GPU, how would I tell if it's the CPU, motherboard, RAM, power supply, or GPU? As a newer PC, I haven't pushed it to its limits yet.
Thanks in advance!
You can utilize tools like those listed below. For GPU stress testing, consider MSI Kombustor, FurMark, Unigine Heaven, 3DMark Stability, and OCCT GPU. To stress test CPU or RAM, use OCCT (CPu, Linpack), Prime95, Cinebench R23. For checking hard drive or SSD health, try Hard Disk Sentinel, CrystalDiskMark, and CrystalDiskInfo. To assess RAM issues, run Memtest86+, PassMark, and PSU stability tests such as OCCT PSU, Prime95, Blend, Furmark or Kombustor. For PSU stability, use OCCT PSU alongside Prime95, Furmark or Kombustor.
I know the crashes and having your PC reset, but the game shutting down your whole system feels wrong or harmful. Even for MW2, what should I do to fix it?
I plan to play the game once more tomorrow and will share updates if it occurs again! I’ll also include additional readings in the OSD.
Hello! It seems the game froze unexpectedly again, about an hour ago. While I played, the screen went black and I saw the boot-up menu. The temperatures were normal. What options do you have?
Hey, same thing happened to me too when joining a game. It restarted right after turning it on and went into BIOS splash. My temperatures were all normal. It seems like the issue isn’t hardware-related—some people have reported it too. I think it might be a game problem, not my PC’s fault. Everything else is fine except for XMP settings, but I still passed all tests. My Windows log shows a bugchecker error, which usually points to a driver issue.
