I can't confirm with certainty, but it seems unlikely. The main goal is to restore the OS, erase all other data, and begin from scratch—not just by re-entering a product key.

The main file is saved on the MOBO. This allows you to install W7 and later return to W10 without needing to re-enter the key.

Yes, you can easily switch between versions like 8, 8.1 and 10. I updated 10 on my PC last week using a Flash Drive to install the anniversary edition. After that night, the machine was reinstalled again from the same drive, but then I reset it back to 8.1 (the original version) for better compatibility with my work software. I’m still thinking about going back to version 7 and purchasing a key for it.
