I recently upgraded my PC two years ago and decided it was time for a new Windows installation. I usually kept notes before wiping the drive, but I’m curious about other methods people use. Could you share a more efficient approach?

I create a USB installer, prepare the existing drive, and set it up for installation.

I handle this regularly, so I’ve perfected the process. I have a backup drive connected to my main PC and most games are installed there, which solves any issues quickly. I also use it for backing up important files like my Documents folder. First, gather all installed apps and download their latest versions, saving them in separate folders. Download additional drives that support file backups, or take screenshots if needed. Store everything on both the secondary drive and a USB flash drive for safety. Keep both copies in place. When I need to install Windows, I use the official tool, wipe the primary drive, and install only from the USB. After setup, I shut down, disconnect the secondary SSD, and reinstall. I can then either install directly from the USB or transfer files from the backup drive. Having a list helps me track what I originally had, making the process smoother and more reliable.
