Restarted your computer to install the game, but it still won’t start.
I needed to restart my PC three years ago to install a game. After it powered back up, it froze on the BIOS screen and didn’t respond to any keys like F2 or F12. I suspected it overheated because of the warm room and not being dusted enough. So I removed the panels, took out the RAM to clean the CPU cooler and cleared some dust. After that, I reinstalled everything without too much hassle. I also tried removing the GPU, but one side was stuck by a latch, so I hesitated and pushed it back in. Once the area was cleaner, I tried booting up, but it didn’t show anything on the screen. I also checked for output from the motherboard itself—did my motherboard or GPU fail? Please advise. (GPU fans and CPU cooler fan are spinning)
Hi, I don't believe you meant to change anything else; otherwise nothing would work. It wasn't necessary to restart my PC for any game update, so it would be useful if you could guide the community through the steps before the reboot. Regarding the BIOS screen, there could be several causes: your BIOS might be outdated, your Windows isn't current and you installed a driver for an HDD/SSD that doesn't match your Windows version or patches, or the Windows bootloader could have been corrupted during an update (this has happened to me twice in the past four years). Other possibilities are harder to pinpoint without more details. As for no video output, possible reasons include: the video card slot being damaged, a faulty BIOS chip (I’ve had one fail after updating my Gigabyte gaming 5 with a dual BIOS chip), or issues with the BIOS chip itself. I’d suggest cleaning the system thoroughly, checking all connections carefully, and being cautious when handling the card. If you share more about your setup, it would help.
I’m ready to disassemble it and share details about its construction. Before, I was updating Call of Duty: War Zone and after finishing, I pressed play—it began loading before notifying me to restart for the update. Likely it was just the launcher, but my mind wasn’t clear. Appreciate the tip!
Finished disassembling and putting it back together without changes. Consistent outcomes. What should we do next for troubleshooting? I’m fine with swapping the motherboard or GPU, just avoid endless guesswork. The motherboard has an SSD and the GPU is visible in the photos. I’m not sure if it’s a 7700k CPU, but I’m not very sure.
