Hi! I just turned off and back on my windows 11 that has been sitting there for over a year with no trouble. When I started it up again, my mouse suddenly wouldn't work at all. I tried three different mice, but none of them worked either. They all worked fine before, so this is definitely not the hardware problem. I looked around online trying lots and lots of things but nothing seems to help me now. Please help a poor kid! Thanks a lot guys.

Do the mice run in BIOS for that bad computer? You can try a clean boot here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...ee...Windows_11 It might be a driver problem stopping the mice from working. Does your keyboard work on this machine? If it does, try this guide with an option to reboot and hold down the shift key.

Hi! I thought about using the mouse driver, but whatever mouse I tried is just not working. I rebooted into safe mode, but the mouse was still broken. I haven't even tried a clean restart yet. Yes, the keyboard worked fine; it just seemed like Windows couldn't make any kind of mouse work. Even those old mice that usually work on all builds were useless here. I did a system recovery and finally fixed it, though strangely enough it made me lose some saves from my Steam games (one game had over 100 hours of gameplay, which was kind of sad). But at least the problem is solved now. I've had a PC for decades, built PCs myself, and troubleshooted them for a while since Windows 3.1, but I've never had this happen before. Honestly, I felt totally lost and frustrated. Thanks so much for all those tips; I'm going to bookmark them right away. If this happens again, I will definitely try those troubleshooting steps!
