Hey everyone. In short, I've experimented with RAM overclocking and power settings, and my system stays stable after 2-5 minutes of use or even just idling. Recently, I built a new AMD build and encountered some issues. I'm trying to document everything so the full picture is clear. Once the PC was put together and Windows installed, everything worked perfectly. I turned off some annoying lights on the motherboard, updated all firmware and software, and confirmed that my AMD chipset, BIOS, and GPU drivers were up to date. I also installed monitoring tools because my idle CPU temperatures kept spiking (49-62°C). Reading through the info suggested it was normal for 3600Hz, so now it seems okay. After tweaking BIOS settings like disabling PBO, customizing the CPU fan curve, and adjusting power profiles in Windows (AMD High Performance, 1% to 100%), temperatures stabilized and the fan behavior changed. I then tried overclocking RAM and IFS, setting them to 3200CL16 and 1600 respectively. The system booted normally during light tasks like web browsing, lasting about four hours while I watched videos and read. Eventually, I attempted a RAM overclock to 3600, setting voltage at 1.4V and IFS at 1800. The system started working fine under light loads, but when I tried a higher voltage (1.4V) and ignored the CPU voltage, it entered a bootloop. I reset everything, cleared CMOS, and after a few hours the system rebooted. Once cooled down, temperatures dropped to around 65°C and stayed there, though the fan still fluctuated. After about three minutes of idle, it restarted again while I was streaming. Eventually, the system crashed after a few minutes, then rebooted. After some research, I considered adding a 0.1V voltage offset to the CPU and ran Prime95 to check temperatures. The test showed stable temps around 67°C initially, then spiked to 85°C before dropping back. Once cooled, the system returned to normal behavior. Despite all adjustments, the PC still reboots unexpectedly after light use. I’ve checked connections, cooler tightness, and RAM installation, but nothing seems to fix the problem. I’m running out of options and hoping for a solution. This is my current setup: new GPU, new PSU, old motherboard, and a brand-new system. Everything else worked perfectly before.

Use hwinfo64 and Ryzen Master for accurate temperature tracking. Update the BIOS. Run memtest86 and OCCT to verify RAM stability. And @Sauron got there first again.

You experienced an unstable overclock, making settings difficult to manage. Reset the CMOS and reduce RAM OC.

Yup, only use those. Like I said, BIOS is up to date. I guess I'll have to ask a friend to make me a memtest thumbdrive. What's weird is, as far as I understand, Prime95 doesn't stress RAM, but my system stopped working after that test even now after I cleared CMOS.

Notice, I've completed everything already. The system remains unstable with the default BIOS configuration. BIOS is currently the newest version.

Ram might lead to issues with other components. It doesn't necessarily mean a ram stress test is needed.

If you can start Windows without an immediate crash, run diagnostics like Windows Memory Diagnostic, Linpack Xtreme or MemTest64. Prime95 also checks memory in Blend mode, though not extensively.
