Resolving issues with OEM motherboards
I found an older HP Workstation XW4400 XW4300 board. My main issues are: 1. My system has a dual-core Q6600 CPU that doesn’t work properly. I’m stuck using a C2D E4300, which is much slower than my custom-built C2Q model. It’s a dual-core at 2.8GHz compared to the quad at 3.0GHz—no real competition. Can I still use the core quad? 2. I want to set up this PC as a home server but can’t use the second GPU. I can use either my HD3650 or FireGL v3350, but not both. I’m aware the FireGL won’t greatly improve performance, though it will be replaced with an HD2600X eventually once I replace the damaged chip. Also, I expect PCI issues if I get a Wi-Fi card. I cleared the CMOS because it doesn’t boot after a GPU swap, but the problem persists. (Not in CrossFire, just dual GPU.) 2.5. Where can I buy an LGA775 CPU bracket? I think this board had the cooler socket into the case. Any advice on the above would be great.
