[RESOLVED]Installed a new CPU cooler on vintage PC then it won't boot, no display signal, fans running
So I acquired a new CPU cooler, thrilled to install and utilize it instead I'm faced with disappointment because it will not power on anymore. It was functioning well the day prior.
Fans are operational.
Basic specifications
CPU is Intel i5 3470
Mobo intel db75en
GPU 1060 6gb
Uneven RAM modules
Cooler is thermalright ax120r se air cooler, I had to remove the mobo to install the back plate for Intel's case. I cleaned the GPU and mobo with compressed air while I was at it, not certain if this could have affected it?
I then cleaned the old thermal paste in the slot without removing the CPU from the socket and applied new thermal paste on it and installed the cooler as directed. When I completed I reassembled everything in the case and then it happened, won't boot.
No display signal, no beeps, fans running. Mouse light operational at first but now it only illuminated for a few seconds before turning off. No keyboard lights.
What I've attempted: (
pretty much everything I could find online)
Reseated GPU
Reseated CPU
Reseated PSU power cables
Changed RAM slots, reseated them etc
Using only 1 RAM module
Removing the RAM modules, hear 3 beeps for missing memory as expected
Loosening heatsink
Removing the CMOS battery
Using a different battery
Reset CMOS
Using another GPU from a different PC
Tried another monitor from a different PC
Tried another PSU
Tried both PSUs with another PC, booted to BIOS just fine there
Removing mobo and components from the case and try (Breadboarding)
Etc.
So I've eliminated several components but still uncertain about two, CPU and motherboard. But truly confused because I didn't remove the CPU from the socket when installing, and I don't see any damaged capacitors or chips on the mobo. So I really don't know what could have occurred when it was just fine the day prior. It's challenging to test the two parts because they are so old and incompatible with modern components.
I will attempt to upload images of the CPU and socket and provide more details here, posting from the phone

CPU- Not sure what the mark is or whether it had been there before. Is it damaged?

Ask if you have any inquiries. Thank you in advance.
That CPU is likely damaged/dead with that scab or scratch; happened to me before with an i7-6700 back in the day. Came defective out of the box; didn't realize it so returned it, received a K version instead because offered it..................... So.................... Unless you can acquire a different Mobo to test it out for sure I'd say........................70-90% Ooooooooooooof..............................
Thank you for the feedback
That's unfortunate if it's the situation. I've no clue how or where/when it occurred ðŸ˜
I could consider purchasing a second-hand one online to test it out but at this stage, I'm uncertain if it's worthwhile anymore
Not sure how easy it is to locate a mobo that outdated, probably simpler to try with a second-hand CPU?
I'm unsure if this is the reason you're experiencing the issue, but there are definitely damaged pads on the CPU. The motherboard appears quite clean so if you want to try to make it work, consider getting a CPU as long as it's inexpensive enough. It seems like your board should support pretty much anything from the 2nd/3rd generation as long as you have cooling.
Thank you! Yes, there is actually another blot of damaged parts on the opposite end that's a bit smaller than the ones shown, I just noticed it later so I didn't take a picture of it, it's very hard to see and not sure if it was there earlier either. I'll try locating a CPU.
So I purchased a used CPU now, it still shows no display. However, the mouse does illuminate normally now, so the old CPU was probably actually dead/problematic. Now, I still have no display signal, even when attempting with an old VGA+hdmi adapter plugging into my motherboard to try to boot with igpu, still no display.
However, the peculiar thing is, my monitor will always say "display port - no signal" despite not having the DP cable connected at all, when using hdmi to hdmi or VGA+adapter. My monitor is gigabyte g24f.
Tried moving the GPU to my dad's PC and it still works. What on earth. Is the mobo dead? Currently, I have everything except storage in breadboard form, I don't need storage to POST, right?
Edit: now I don't see the mouse light up anymore... What is happening
