Resolved: Some games experience slow loading times or become unresponsive during the loading process.
Over the last few weeks, initiating the download of specific games has frequently involved lengthy wait times, or alternatively, caused the game to become unresponsive, necessitating a system task manager shutdown and subsequent restart to proceed with loading. These problems predominantly occur with games from Steam, although they aren’t limited to that platform. Once the games are successfully loaded, they operate without any further problems. I’m seeking advice on how to investigate and resolve this issue.
The following games have exhibited this difficulty recently:
DoTA 2
Rust
MORDHAU
Apex Legends
Rainbow Six Siege
All of these games are current versions, my operating system and drivers are recent updates, and I've confirmed file integrity across multiple installations with no errors discovered.
My system specifications are as follows:
Windows 10 64-bit Professional
CPU: Intel i5 7600k @ 3.8 GHz (not overclocked)
GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB of VRAM
RAM: 16 GB DDR5
The games are installed on multiple hard drives – three in total – which indicates that the issue isn’t related to a single drive malfunction.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance you can offer, thank you.
Employ Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer – focusing on one tool at a time – to monitor your computer’s operation when it's inactive, while navigating the web, during file downloads, and while playing games. Acquire software from platforms like Steam and similar locations for comparative analysis. Maintain uniformity throughout, altering or executing only a single action consecutively, allowing the system ample time to “settle” between measurements. Keep an eye out for additional applications attempting to transmit data, install updates, or create backups. Identify limitations – particularly during download assessments. The issue might be that Steam’s online server is experiencing delays. Utilize the command prompt to execute “tracert” and aim it at Steam’s website, subsequently targeting other websites for comparison.
