Resolved: should I purchase a fresh display or a separate graphics card?
Listen up, it would be great to see a new section dedicated to equipment discussions. Currently, I have $400 available immediately and an additional $500 will be accessible within a month. My plan is to purchase a higher-quality monitor (the MSI Optix MAG272CQR) and an upgraded graphics card (moving from a GTX 1660 to an RTX 2060 Super). I’m unsure whether to prioritize the graphics card initially or the monitor, considering the remaining funds will arrive in a month. I was initially leaning toward the graphics card, but now I’m considering focusing on the monitor first. What are your thoughts?
If your budget allows, consider purchasing a graphics card, but I recommend holding off for now. My current 1070 has performed adequately without requiring an upgrade, and it wouldn’t be beneficial to do so at this time. Delay your purchase for a few months until the Ampere driver issues are resolved and prices either decrease or new card models become available. In the interim, invest in a display monitor.
Could you tell me your current graphics card? Considering the upcoming 3000 series, I would advise waiting and purchasing the monitor first before acquiring a new graphics card.
If your budget allows, consider investing in a graphics card, but I recommend holding off for now. My current 1070 has performed adequately without needing an upgrade, and it wouldn't be a worthwhile investment at this time. Delay your purchase until after the Ampere drivers have been refined and prices either decrease or new card models are released. In the interim, purchasing a display would be beneficial.
