I employ Razer Game Booster, and within the software, a feature allows selection of high performance as the power plan during boosts. My standard power plan is set to ultimate performance, which provides a slight improvement. I’m curious whether activating this high performance option would automatically switch my default power plan to that setting. Furthermore, if I disable it, will it revert to the balanced power plan, or will it maintain its current configuration of ultimate performance?
Whether you’re utilizing an Nvidia or AMD graphics card, I typically keep my computer in “Balanced” mode and employ Nvidia Inspector to configure specific titles for optimal power delivery via the “Prefer maximum power” setting within Power Management. This ensures that your processor automatically returns to a lower speed after gaming sessions, preventing excessive heat and noise levels.
However, due to my complete disabling of Windows 10’s monitoring tools, only one game requires a different power setting. My Intel Core i7-8700k consistently reaches and maintains its highest turbo frequency when tested with Afterburner, yet this particular game seems to gain a minor advantage when running in “High performance” mode.
