Resolved: Persistent screen wavering during video game sessions on a 4K display.
I upgraded from my older GTX 750 Ti SC graphics card to an RX 580 8GB XXX, hoping to return to high-performance gaming. About two months ago, I also bought a Samsung 58MU6100 television (the model is 58MU6120 in Brazil). The TV has operated without issue (though I haven’t attempted to use it for PC gaming recently, as I've been primarily playing on my PlayStation 4). Everything has functioned smoothly – PS4 gaming, streaming via apps, remuxing HDR movies through external devices like a cable box – all without problems. The graphics card is connected to a Dell P2417H monitor via DisplayPort, and this connection works perfectly until I attempt to run games.
The display then begins to flicker intensely—occasionally, the PC also freezes or becomes unresponsive, making it difficult to close a game or return to the monitor. Here’s a list of troubleshooting steps I've already taken:
* I swapped out all HDMI cables, including purchasing a new 2.0 cable capable of 4K@60Hz. The issue remains.
* I connected the graphics card directly to the monitor using HDMI, which works flawlessly.
* I tested the graphics card with my old Full HD Samsung television via HDMI, without any problems.
* I experimented with color depth (ensuring it’s 8 bpc), pixel format (4:4:4 when the HDMI port is designated for PC output), GPU scaling, scaling mode, and HDCP settings within Radeon Settings. The problem persists despite these changes.
* I tried all three HDMI ports on the television. The issue remains consistent across all ports.
* I disabled UHD Color for each HDMI port. The problem persists.
* I powered on the system with only the television connected to the PC. The problem persists.
* I modified the refresh rate to 59 Hz and 30 Hz. The problem persists.
It seems like it occasionally works, even with HDR, but I suspect this might be due to a configuration issue or possibly a problem with the television or graphics card itself.
Edit:
It appears YCbCr 4:2:0 resolves the issue.
My current video connections are limited to YCbCr 4:2:0. It’s functioning satisfactorily after I configured it correctly. I intend to purchase an HDMI cable capable of RGB 4:4:4 at 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 60Hz, but availability in Brazil is scarce – I’m likely to need to order it from overseas and welcome any recommendations.

Hello, I'm experiencing the same issue. I tried using an Xbox One X HDMI 2.0 cable, but it didn’t resolve the problem. Have you discovered a compatible cable?
