I’m experiencing noticeable visual distortions in numerous games. This phenomenon seems distinct from standard aliasing, as it remains consistent regardless of my anti-aliasing configuration. Only significantly increasing the resolution to supersampling or 4k, and to a limited extent TAA, effectively eliminates the problem. SMAA and FXAA are entirely ineffective in addressing this issue. The effect is particularly pronounced on plant life, but it’s also evident in ground surfaces. (Note: You need to set the display resolution to 1080p to observe it; FXAA is active in the video.)
Enhance image clarity by leveraging resolution scaling features within games, aiming for a rendered resolution of approximately 1440p – often referred to as 1.5x when your current resolution is 1080p. If you utilize anti-aliasing, consider disabling it or lowering its intensity. Additionally, explore Nvidia Dynamic Super Resolution in your Nvidia control panel, found under Manage 3D settings, which can boost resolutions beyond what’s typically achievable, determined by your monitor's native display capability.
You’re continuing to employ a standard, low-resolution display which lacks sufficient pixel density to completely obscure jagged edges. This blurriness arises when you’re operating at a resolution lower than your monitor's true display capability. The shimmering effect stems from textures being excessively detailed... any method intended to resolve this issue invariably results in a hazy screen (through techniques like dithering, texture smoothing, mipmapping with pre-rendered textures, and so on). With your limited resolution and without super sampling, you can shift between a slightly blurred appearance (minimal shimmer) and a crisper look (significant shimmer).
To improve visual clarity, utilize resolution scaling within games with this feature – typically boosting the rendered image to approximately 1440p, often indicated as a 1.5x multiplier when your current resolution is 1080p. If you employ anti-aliasing, consider disabling it or lowering its intensity. Additionally, explore Nvidia Dynamic Super Resolution in your Nvidia control panel's 3D settings; enabling this can introduce enhanced resolutions tailored to your monitor’s native display, unlocking visuals beyond your standard settings.
The resolution of 1440p is exhibiting a peculiar visual anomaly, resulting in an excessively textured and distorted appearance. It resembles what might be achieved by amplifying a computer’s sharpness to an extreme level, approximately double its standard setting.
