Resolved: Game performance is unsatisfactory.
My computer is not running as effectively as anticipated when playing video games. I possess a Ryzen 7 2700X processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card, 16GB of DDR3200 memory, a 500-watt bronze power supply unit, and an ASRock B450 Steel Legend motherboard. Despite these specifications, I am consistently achieving approximately 70-80 frames per second at minimal settings in games like Destiny 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I find this disappointing, considering my hardware should be delivering superior performance. Any guidance would be beneficial.
Destiny 2 is frequently described as a smoothly running and efficiently designed game, but I began to wonder what people define as “optimized.” With my RTX 2060 and i5 processor, I experienced frame rates below 60 FPS even at 1080p resolution, even in the initial areas. It wasn't until I upgraded my hardware that I consistently observed a noticeable improvement exceeding 60 FPS. Therefore, even if your system is theoretically capable of handling the game better, a combination of your CPU and GPU will likely result in relatively low frame rates at best.
Modern Warfare on PC presents another perplexing situation. Many users are aware of persistent problems that have gone largely unaddressed by Infinity Ward. The game is automatically configured to run with “high priority” processing, which can force Windows to heavily utilize your computer’s chips – I have personally witnessed this leading to…
What RAM speed is being utilized with a dual-channel configuration (3200 MHz)?
Could you specify the manufacturer and model of your 500-watt power supply unit?
What are the temperatures and resource usage levels of your processor and graphics card while gaming?
My memory system supports dual-channel operation, and my power supply unit is an EVGA 500+ Bronze model. My temperatures are usually quite low, and both my graphics card and central processing unit consistently operate at less than 40% utilization—this is unusual given the frame rates I’m achieving.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PC presents another perplexing situation. Many players are aware of existing problems that Activision has not addressed through updates. The game is set to “high priority” by default, which can cause Windows to heavily utilize your processor’s resources – I've noticed this leading to performance drops. Notably, I am still unable to play Modern Warfare on my system, particularly in the single-player campaign. With an RTX 2080 TI, I continue to encounter frequent frame freezes and pauses.
For Modern Warfare specifically, I recommend setting your game’s affinity to “normal” after each launch and disabling features like Ray Tracing, alongside maintaining 1080p resolution. (Please see my specifications in my signature.)
In *Diablo II*, I observe that my frame rate is considerably better when entering a region where enemies and characters haven’t yet appeared, but it plummets immediately upon loading those entities. This leads me to suspect a potential problem with my central processing unit. Conversely, in *Modern Warfare*, it appears more probable that a graphics card issue is at play, given the substantial visual rendering required by *Warzone*, which places a greater demand on the GPU than typical player versus player games.
