Resolved: Elevated latency in specific video games.
I’m experiencing elevated latency in games like Apex Legends, Battlefield V, Warzone, and PUBG. However, my connection is stable with a ping of 22 in Dota 2 and 200 in Battlefield V, both connecting to the Southeast Asia server. Could you advise me on how to resolve this issue?
Servers are geographically dispersed, and at times, situated across various regions—even continents. Consequently, accessing a Japanese server from New York is likely to result in noticeably longer latency (between 300 and 400 milliseconds) compared to connecting to a server within the same city (ranging from 20 to 30 milliseconds). Moreover, even when a server is located in the same locale, you cannot ascertain its connection protocol or actual data transfer rate. I could technically host a server utilizing my mobile device as the connection point, however, this would severely diminish performance. Furthermore, employing a Virtual Private Network will invariably introduce an additional 200 to 300 milliseconds of delay.
I'm reasonably confident that all of my games linked to the Southeast Asia server are working fine. However, I’m uncertain about Call of Duty: Warzone – it consistently shows connection times below 150 milliseconds. For Battlefield V, all servers in Singapore display a red indicator with a 200 millisecond ping. My internet service provider hasn't been able to resolve this issue after five days.
Servers are geographically dispersed, and frequently situated in various regions – sometimes across entire continents. Consequently, accessing a Japanese server from New York is likely to result in significantly longer response times (between 300 and 400 milliseconds) compared to connecting to a server in the same city (typically 20-30 milliseconds). Furthermore, even within the same region, factors such as a server’s connection technology and actual data transfer speed are unknown. For instance, I could operate a server utilizing my mobile device as the connection source; however, this would severely diminish responsiveness. Moreover, employing a VPN will almost certainly introduce an additional 200-300 millisecond delay.
Have you turned off your VPN and attempted to reconnect? I’m unsure of another reason for your poor signal strength besides a running application interfering with your connection. I consistently receive strong connections to SEA servers when located in Singapore.
