Hello, I just assembled my computer and frequently encounter performance issues in games such as Fortnite and GTA V, often experiencing sudden freezes even when performing basic operations. I’ve identified two potential causes for these problems, and believe they may be related to either the power supply or the motherboard. My specific hardware includes an Asus m5a78l-m /USB 3 motherboard and an Astrape M1-650W power supply.

Certainly, if you’re seeking an improvement and are able to utilize your existing power supply unit, that's entirely your decision.

A difficulty arises due to the motherboard, specifically the MB from Micro-Star International (MB), as it’s incompatible with AMD FX 8 series processors. Utilizing an FX 6 processor should function adequately on that motherboard. You may attempt either solution. However, if you continue to encounter the issue, a complete system upgrade is recommended.

Acquire a VRM heatsink to mitigate heat in that area. Consult the provided YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T20YIimV8vY.

Access the BIOS settings and disable a portion of the processor cores, as current games will not leverage more than 4 or 6 cores currently.

Additionally, a prior assessment indicates your power supply unit is sufficient; see the related review: https://www.funkykit.com/reviews/power-s...ly-review/.

Would it be possible to simply replace my computer’s motherboard, central processing unit, memory, and power supply?

Certainly, if you’re looking to improve your system and are able to utilize an existing power supply unit, that’s a viable option depending on your preference.
