A monitor costs approximately $100 for a 120Hz display, or $200 for a new 144Hz one. I’m currently using a 60Hz console, but I am constructing a strong gaming PC and wish to avoid being restricted to 60 frames per second at that rate. Therefore, I am inquiring whether it’s worthwhile to invest the additional $100 or save that money. Additionally, I could explore online marketplaces like Letgo, OfferUp, and eBay to potentially acquire a 144Hz monitor for around $150, although I am concerned about potential issues such as green lines.

It’s unlikely anyone could perceive the difference between a 120Hz and a 144Hz display. Investing that $100 would be more beneficial if you intend to purchase a superior graphics card—a necessary step to achieve sufficient frames per second for fully utilizing a higher refresh rate screen.

It’s unlikely anyone can discern the difference between a 120Hz and a 144Hz display quickly. Spending $100 might be better invested in an upgraded graphics card—if you don’t already possess one—to achieve a sufficient frame rate for maximizing the benefits of a higher refresh rate.
