I purchased my Acer Aspire V3-772G with Windows 8 already installed, but someone changed it to Windows 7 for me. I’m considering a factory reset now and wondering if it will bring it back to Windows 8. Also, I need to know if a license key is required, since I don’t have one.

The device likely came with a modified version since it was shipped with 8. You might be able to recover the original license using tools such as Nirsoft Keyfinder. Even if you plan to run Windows 10 later, you can still upgrade for free until the end of December. To get the full version, you'll need the license, a proper installation source, and compatible drivers.

Yes, you can try installing Linux, but it might be more challenging depending on your comfort level with technology. It’s not impossible, but you may need some guidance and patience.

When a Windows reinstall feels overwhelming, Linux offers a simpler alternative.

Sure, I think you don’t need it anymore. Also, can I keep using the license key if I extract it?

What amount were you charged for it? Which original version of Windows was released first? Just remember, only the professional and ultimate editions include a downgrade feature.

Sorry, I can't recall the details from a few years ago. When I purchased it, it ran Windows 8 and I had to have it downgraded by someone because I wasn’t happy with them. Here’s the full name of my laptop: Acer Aspire V3-772G-747A8G1TMakk.

You're wondering whether to install all the updates now since they've been off for a long time. Yes, installing them will bring your system up to date with Windows 10.
